Ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, sound and free from dust, grease or any contamination that could impair bonding. Plaster must be sound with no crumbling or cracking. A minimum curing period of 14 days should be observed for newly applied plaster before tiling commences. PVA paint and gypsum plaster must be chipped to expose 80 % of the substrate. 

Enamel paint and bitumen should be scraped and chipped to expose 95 % of the substrate. Smooth dense surfaces like steel floated cement must be primed using a mix of 2 volumes of Weber Tylon® Plaskey and 1 volume of Key-it applied to a thickness of approximately 2 mm
using a block brush. Leave to dry for 24 hours.

Spread adhesive using a notched trowel in straight lines to maximum bedded thickness of 3 mm on walls and floors. Press tiles firmly into wet adhesive with a mallet to bed large or heavy tiles.

APPLICATION TIP

• Back buttering tiles to fill voids on back of tiles
• Occasionally, lift a tile to check full contact is being made with Super-flex adhesive. Do not butt joint tiles and allow for a minimum grout joint of 2 to 3 mm
• Movement joints compensate for the movement of tiles, which extends down through the tiles, the bed and substrate layer below
• Remove excess adhesive from grout joints and tile surface with a damp sponge before drying occurs
• Allow tile adhesive to dry for 24 hours before grouting. Use Weber Tylon® All Purpose Grout according to instructions to complete the tile installation. Super-flex should no be used in extreme wet conditions i.e. pools, showers, saunas
